Why I’m Casting the Nets
I came out of prayer believing I heard one very simple instruction: Cast the nets. So this is me doing that.
Hope on a Hill is days away from not existing.
We are significantly short on the funds needed to launch this ministry.
We’ve heard God say He would provide abundantly. Individually. Corporately. Confirmed over and over.
And yet, we stand at the threshold with empty hands.
The time is right now. If Hope on a Hill is to exist, we need finances today.
We are willing to partner with other ministries and share this work together. We want to maintain our testimony in this village.
Yes, we’ve moved forward in faith, and that delights God. But these empty hands disappoint a property owner with plans for their next project once they release Hope on a Hill to us. This hurts my heart.
It’s easy to be excited for what God wants to do. Partnering with what He wants is so much harder. Partnering with our finances, our time, our energy… our lives. I feel this deeply as I hand my life over to this ministry direction.
Yet here we are, with an opportunity for our action to match our excitement. Our funds to match our faith.
I don’t know why God asked a single mama with a small bank account to take on this huge project. Someone said to me, “He chose you for your faith, not your bank account.”
I hung onto that. It brought me hope and peace, because He is able.
But my faith alone can’t launch this ministry. Neither can the empty Hope on a Hill bank account.
So today is the day of decision… will it come to be?
You can help make it a reality.
If 2,000 people give $100, we’re covered. If some give more, we need fewer people. If you can give less, we’re still closer.
This miracle has room for whatever you can bring.
Right now, we have less than €1,000 of the needed €179,000.
This will take a miracle. It will take all of us—giving what we can and inviting others to do the same.
I know some people will look at this and think my faith was ridiculous. That I should have stayed small. That God doesn’t do things like this—not for me.
It’s hard not to hear those voices myself sometimes.
But still, even now, as I stare into an empty pot… I know He’s able.
As I step into this letter from a time of prayer, I’m actually giggling. He brought me to this passage in Exodus:
One day Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Take these people up to the Promised Land.’ But you haven’t told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, ‘I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.’ If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.”
The LORD replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.”
So today I look to Him—to His presence—to demonstrate His favor by providing the financial needs to launch Hope on a Hill. To go with us as we care for His people.
Will you give?

And if you can’t give—or even if you can—will you send this to one person, church, small group, or ministry who cares about the health and resilience of missionaries?
